Worth knowing - tie.

Tie - historical overview

Historical sources disagree on whether the ancestor of the necktie was the headscarf worn by warriors of the Qin Shi emperor or Roman legionaries during the empire's heyday. Its role is also not clear, some suppose that it was used as a sign of belonging to a certain social group others claim that it may have had a practical role similar to that of the stock tie still used by hunters on hunting trips today. Stocks are used in exceptional situations instead of bandages. They are used for dressing minor wounds and scratches caused during hunting trips. What is certain, however, is that we owe the popularization of the tie in Europe to King Louis XIV of France. The Sun King, for that was the nickname Louis XIV bore, was known for his love of fashion and all the novelties associated with it. Around 1660, he was allegedly reviewing his troops. Unsurprisingly, the young ruler paid special attention to an element of the uniform that he encountered for the first time. It was, it was a carefully knotted shawl. The ruler, delighted with this addition, popularized it in the royal court. Shortly thereafter, this decorative piece of silk became popular in France and then throughout Europe.

Great industrialization

Since the time of Louis XIV, the necktie has evolved and taken on a wide variety of forms. One thing that has remained constant is the high price of silk materials, which is why this accessory reserved only for wealthy gentlemen. Everything changed with the advent of the industrial revolution. The era of great industrialization changed everything. Mechanical weaving machines began to be used in production, thanks to which the price of materials fell dramatically, and the necktie, previously reserved only for the rich, also became popular among officials, merchants and townspeople. What remained unchanged was that ties were a signature item for gentlemen of all latitudes. Increased availability of ties has generated a desire for something unique. People started experimenting with form, patterns and colors. At the same time, they also began to look for a simpler and easier-to-tie form that could be worn all day without having to constantly adjust it. This is how the tie as we know it today was born around 1924.

What to consider when choosing a tie?

A tie, like a pillowcase, serves as a decorative piece. These accessories bring additional pattern, color and material texture to the styling. Thanks to them we have the opportunity to personalize any style. A tie, is a great way to express your style, emotions or even your mood. You care that everyone pays attention to you? Opt for vibrant colors such as red, yellow, blue or orange. If the effect is to be the opposite, you should definitely choose ties with calm and subdued colors such as brown, bottle, navy blue, burgundy or gray. The same is true of patterns. Large and colorful attract attention in contrast to small subdued ones. Regardless of the effect you want to achieve, a tie should be chosen so that it somehow corresponds with the other elements of your outfit, such as your shirt, pillowcase, jacket or pants.

Let's remember that in this "madness" there is a method, so it is worth knowing some basic principles. Patterns are combined by difference of scale (same pattern) or similarity of scale (different patterns). The tie should also match the rest in terms of color. How to properly combine different colors will help you with the diagram below:

Facts and Myths

I

I don't wear a tie because I don't like something pressing under my neck - a myth.

It is not the tie that is responsible for the "suffocating" feeling. Correctly sized collars guarantee the comfort of both the tie and the shirt itself - a fact.

II

Ties are for bureaucrats, corporate employees and other stiffs, I am an individualist and have my own style - a myth.

You are an individualist? Great! A tie, is the perfect way to elegantly and stylishly express yourself and your personality. Remember that its only function is to "look". Opt for offbeat combinations of patterns and colors - fact.

Dignito tie quality

In our offer there is something for everyone. Both classic and bold combinations of patterns and colors are available. This is a kind of confirmation that we understand perfectly the function that this accessory plays in the outfit of an elegant man. We produce all ties by hand from the finest Italian fabrics. Wool soul and lining made of the same material as the top layer (ang. self tipping), are other elements that not only affect the quality of the product, but, above all, make the tie very well tied and arranged. Thanks to the wool filling, ties rolled up and put away in the closet regain their original shape and elasticity more quickly. The lack of pressed edges and the colored "stabilizing" thread are also not negligible. These treatments make the tie springy and give the impression of being "alive" rather than cut from cardboard.
